Photography was fundamental both to his artistic practice and his engagement with the world around him. Though long devoted to Polaroids, Warhol acquired a 35mm camera in 1977 and proceeded to shoot, on average, at least a roll of film a day over the following decade. Little escaped his lens: he recorded discos, dinner parties, flea markets, wrestling matches, street scenes,
