Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised propeller, anchor, and edelweiss, representing the Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, and Heer (Gebirgsjger), respectively, flanked by a date of 1940, and topped by an inscription of NARVIK and German national eagle perched on top of a wreathed swastika, affixed with all four cruciform attachment prongs to a magnetic metal backplate with a field grey wool liner and
