A Egypt Medal 1882-1889, To James Holdaway, Ward Room Officer's Servant, Hms Euphrates United Republic of and is etched with the1882 Reverse, (James Holdaway Ward Room Officer's Servant on board Hm's Euphrates). Naming is engraved in running script, neatly and smartly re named, inverted, with a pawn broker's mark to the left of the Sphinx's head on the reverse. Edge nicks, contact marks, replacement ribbon, very fine. Footnote: This medal has been most elaborately re named, presumably by Holdaway's master, and then presented to him as a token of appreciation. However, perhaps
