This is a lost wax casting. Once the piece has been cast the mould is broken open. A new mould is made for every piece. The statue is then painstakingly polished and gilded. These seated Buddhas are in the pose of Varada Mudra a sign of compassion & charity, representing the five perfections; patience, effort, concentration, generosity & morality.
