Originally launched in 1988, the Rolex Daytona Ref. 16520 was powered by a heavily modified Zenith Caliber 4030 which after Rolex's tinkering became known as the Rolex calibre 4030. The 16520 also saw the introduction of a number of other upgrades including a sapphire crystal, glossy lacquered dials and luminous applied hour markers.
