This African folk art looks like a doll but in fact, it's a percussion instrument used in folk music in both Africa and South America. Shake it and it rattles like a maraca. The adorable face is carved into the shell. The yes are made by weaving sea shells into the sockets then trimmed with straw hair. The arms are attached at the shoulders and swing when shaken. The legs are made of lightweight wood, study and steady for holding and shaking
