Camphor trunks were usually made in pairs, one each for husband & wife. They were used to store clothing. This simple design is pure Ming dynasty in style. This piece is Qing dynasty (1644 1912) and dates to the 19th century. Constructed from high quality burr elm, this piece boasts a beautiful grain structure. Camphor wood is moth & insect repellent and
