Introduced around 1950 these mid century modern tiles were marketed by stating that you can blindfold your tilesetter and he couldn't make a mistake in the design

Attributed to Sherwin Cotton the only other mark on the back is "ENGLAND"

Originally these were used as decoration above a fireplace or in a vestibule entering a home

The molded design features palmettes and stylized lotus flowers with a zigzag frieze above and S scrolls and flowerheads below

Antique Hand Painted Tile of Strawberries, Framed Jugtown Introduced around 1950 these midThis antique tile was hand painted and displays strawberries and vining leaves. The tile measures 5" square. Unsigned, it is probably Dutch. Roughness around the edges is masked by a wooden gesso frame with a gold finish. Framed it measures 8 " square.
