Native to southern Mexico in the states of Morelos, Puebla & Oaxaca (ours is from Huajuapan de Leon, Oaxaca) where it forms carpet like colonies. The leaves are silvery green, about an inch wide, tapering to a point, with large spines, scalloped margins and blood spots when grown in good light.
