Dempsey Pear Home Page Ripens in early September50F. Yellow green with brown cheek. Ripens in late October. Discovered in Trenton, Prince Edward County, Canada, by Mr. P. C. Dempsey. It is described in the 1897 edition of 'Fruits of Ontario' as having flesh that is white, fine grained, tender, almost melting. A cross between Bartlett and Duchess d' Angouleme. Similar in appearance to Bartlett; sweet and juicy with a rich flavor. Developed by P. C. Dempsey of Trenton, Ontario in the 1890's. 3 5 foot
