Originally used in domestic settings for the preparation and serving of bread, sofrehs like this one were functional textiles imbued with quiet artistry. The narrow horizontal stripes are woven in undyed ivory and brown wool, creating a simple but striking rhythm. At each end, colorful flatwoven bands of indigo,
