A Pair of Moorish Painted Bronze Candelabras, 19th Century "Ridge Climb" by Gene Koss creating a visually compelling contrast15 1 2"H x 7 1 2"Dia A pair of beautiful Moorish Torch Bearers. In fabulous 19th century condition. Alluring to say the least. Both having plumed headdresses. Both standing in contraposto. Ebonized and gilt bronze. Sculpture like these emerged as a response to the Moorish occupation of Europe. They were Arabic, hence the turbans and tunics you see here and most during the 19th century. Sold as a pair.
