This was done so the whisky would be used in blends and could not be marketed as Glenfiddich single malt. These days I hear its quite unlikely that anybody actually adds a teaspoon of Balvenie to make Wardhead or adds a teaspoon of Glenfiddich to Balvenie to make Burnside. I'm not a fan of Glenfiddich and this is probably the best one I have ever tasted
