Dorstenia gigas HYLAEAICUM with a light green backgroundOne of the most unusual of caudiciform plants. A rarity endemic to Socotra Island in the Indian Ocean, off the coasts of Yemen and Somalia. The giant of the genus, to eight feet tall and two feet in diameter, with many branches and a swollen, smooth, greenish tan trunk. Deep green leaves, borne in whorls, are somewhat cupped and deeply veined. Star shaped fruit like flowers or hypanthodiums appear in clusters, it is an awesome plant! Not at all hard
