These pieces are each their own work of art. The plates clearly have a common pattern, however each plate is as unique as a fingerprint, and cannot be replicated. The coloured patterning comes from repeated layering of different clays to form this checked appearance. The clays exhibit their unique characters because of the precious compounds found within
