Hosomaki is a type of Japanese sushi roll characterised by its small, thin size and simple fillings. The word "hosomaki" translates to "thin roll" in Japanese. It is made by wrapping a small amount of sushi rice and one main ingredient, like fish or vegetables, in a half nori sheet using a bamboo mat.
